• Les bouchons lyonnais Garants de la tradition culinaire Lyonnaise
  • Chabert et Fils

    Owner : Jean-Pierre Gillin

Chabert et Fils is in the heart of the Presqu’île district, in an old building right next to Place Bellecour. The decor is typical bouchon – a chandelier from the old Lyon opera house, a fresco by a famous Lyon painter, and Lyon tradition oblige, a large collection of Punch and Judy puppets. Owning Lyon bouchons is a real family affair, and this one is managed by Jean-Pierre Gillin with the help of his wife, his daughter, Stéphanie Midroit, and his son-in-law. This is a genuine bouchon, offering good food in traditional surroundings, service with a smile and great value for money. All the chefs have learnt their trade here and they tend to stay until they reach retirement, as they are loath to leave this temple to Lyon’s gastronomic culture. Once you’ve tasted their Gnafron (chitterling sausage and garlic flan wrapped in cabbage leaves) and Andburger (Lyon-style hamburger made with chitterling sausage), you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them.
